4.  Shop for a lender and compare costs.

5.  Don't be convinced to borrow more money than you can afford to repay.

6.  Don't make false statements, such as, overstating your income, source of down payment or employment status.

7.  Review all loan documments prior to closing.

8.  Don't allow the lender to change the terms or cost of the loan at the closing table.
