Tips for selling a home during the holidays
- Don't go overboard with holiday decor. Too many decorations and adornments that are too large can crowd the home and distract buyers. Opt for general fall and winter decorations rather than those with religious themes.
- Choose a dedicated real estate agent who won't disappear over the holidays.
- Seek out motivated buyers. Anyone house hunting during the holidays must have a good reason for doing so. Work with your agent to target buyers on a deadline, including people relocating for jobs in the area and investors on tax deadlines.
- Take quality photos and video tours of your home. Northerners battling blizzards may be more likely to start their home search via the Internet before they travel to Florida.
- Entice homebuyers with a cozy ambience. Offer holiday treats and play classical or other soft music to entice prospective buyers to stay longer and admire your home's attributes.
